David McColl will speak about his son Tony, who had always made a promise to never drink and drive. He was the designated driver at a party and was killed in 2011 by an impaired driver being chased by the police.

Following David’s talk we will break out into six different peer support groups: loss of spouse, loss of child, loss of parent, sibling, relative or friend, loss by suicide, for youth (grades 7-12), and for francophones.

We have been operating in Ottawa since 1978, when two mothers came together through their common experience of losing a child. Today our expert facilitators run about 120 peer support groups each year, attended by more than 2000 participants. We help and support people in our community who are dealing with grief that stems from many different types of losses: - loss of child; - loss of spouse; - loss of parent/other; - loss of sibling/friend; - perinatal loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, infant); - for youth (grades 7-12); - by suicide; - by substance use; and - by Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID);
